Shinsaibashi

Day 4: Osaka (Dotonburi+Shinsaibashi)

The famous hairy crab restaurant with the famous larger-than-life crab signboard.

wp dissing yokoyama yu in front of some genuine fans who were also taking photos with the poster *oops*

Okonomiyaki was our first meal of the day. After which we checked out an obscure pirated Johnny's shop and browsed magazines at a 3-storey bookstore.

We then went on to Shinsaibashi. There were many shops along Shinsaibashi but they were quite pricey. And most of them were selling winter fashion so they didn't interest us much. The more memorable moments were our frequent stops for food: Mom's cafe, dinner at a sushi restaurant & an after-shopping snack at afternoon cafe.

The sushi restaurant was good...the sushi was fresh and the service staff was funny. We sat at the benches surrounding a central kitchen area and the staff are lined up along the wall. They'll take turns to say 'Irrashaimase' as you enter and when you order, they'll echo your orders around the restaurant until it reaches the central area.

After dinner, we walked along the shops, including a clothes store that sold fur jackets endorsed by NewS, a 2ndhand DVD/CD shop, and a pharmacy where i bought some flu meds.

Neon lights galore! Among which we found some familiar faces...

NewS のYamashita Tomohisa...

...And Tamaki Hiroshi of Nodame Cantabile fame

To end the Osaka leg of our trip, we found a connection to wp's fave Ueda on the way back to our hotel:

A liquor shop of the same name haha :D
